Youth Ministries at First Baptist Church
At First Baptist Church we believe that children and young
people are vital to our faith community. There are many
opportunities for youth and children to participate in
our worship and fellowship life.
The Youth Group
The Youth Group meets weekly
on Sunday afternoons during the program year. The group
will sometimes play games, have guest speakers, take
local day trips, participate in fund raising for world
hunger, local youth community projects and other needs.
The Youth Group also goes on retreats and mission trips,
biking, hiking trips, camping and canoe trips. Sometimes
they just hang out together getting to know each other
better.
Family Fellowship
The Family Fellowship is an opportunity for children and youth of all ages, together with their families,
to engage in a variety of programs. This group meets once per month during the program year, and is
really focused on getting the families of the church
together to play and have fun. Activities for the Family
Fellowship have included: a Halloween Party, sledding,
trips to children's theater performances, parks and
museums.
Sunday Morning Worship
Our children and youth are
encouraged to be active participants in our Sunday morning Worship Service. The older youth participate as ushers,
greeters, and also read scripture. In addition, a Children's Message conversation time is
a regular feature of the Morning Worship Service. Following this time,
the children leave the formal service for Children's Worship
during which they have the opportunity to learn about their
faith in fun and age appropriate ways. Each year, we set aside several weeks to serve as "Youth Month", in which
youth participate each Sunday and plan the leadership for Morning Worship on Youth Sunday. College age Youth Alumni also have the opportunity to lead a service during the program year.
