Music and Arts

Music and Arts have always held a special place at the First Baptist Church. We are known for the quality of our choirs and our music program. In addition to the music at our regular services, First Baptist presents a variety of music and arts events, including organ recitals, choral performances of major works, art exhibitions, and drama. Together with the adult choir and the children's choirs, the First Handbells frequently participate in the worship service.

A Christmas tradition at First Baptist is the candle-lit Choral Evensong based on the Celebration of Lessons and Carols from King's College, Cambridge, England. First Baptist also has an very active theater group, The Phoenix Players, who present a light comical production each fall, and a full production each spring. The spring production is often a comedy, but we also present more serious works.

FBC Has Two Outstanding Organs:

In the main Sanctuary, we have a four-manual, six-division, 81-rank Theo. Gilbert/Stephen Russell organ. Our console is shown at the right. It is moved into in the center of the Chancel for concerts and recitals.

In our chapel we also have a two-manual, 15-rank J.W. Walker tracker organ.
